Slaying Fibro & Other Invisible Illnesses

Encouragement, Tips, and Ideas from One Slayer to Another

About Stephanie Pitcher Fishman

fibro slayer: (n) a person who is a beast at battling their fibromyalgia

cropped-slaying-fibro-profile.pngI’m Stephanie Pitcher Fishman. Author, mother, and fibro slayer. Fibromyalgia can suck it. And I mean that.

I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia in December 2014, but like many others I had symptoms far longer than that. It was a relief to know that I had a formal diagnosis, but that didn’t fix the symptoms that I live with every day.

As a writer, I process events and feelings through words. Slaying Fibro will be in part my personal journal of what I’m going through (in the hopes that I can help someone else.) It will also in a way be my own personal therapy as I live with chronic illness.

It’s time to slay the dragon.

You can follow me around the interwebs in a few different places like Twitter, Pinterest, and Facebook. Here’s a bonus Facebook page if you want to keep up with Author Stephanie and not just Fibro Stephanie.

My Story

Sometimes you just want to get down to the nitty gritty without hunting for it, right? Read these posts to get a picture of what I slay in my life with invisible illness. I’d love for you to tell me your story as well. You can do that through the comments section on any of these posts or through email and social media.

Why I’m Here

My goal for Slaying Fibro is simple: to provide encouragement and support to other #fibroslayers.

Because we rock.

I want to connect with others who are slaying the dragon in their own lives. I’d love to walk alongside other new club members as they learn the secret (gentle) handshake.

I am more than the sum of my illness. And so are you.

  • I am an Amazon Best Selling writer of fiction and non-fiction.
  • I am a chaser of the dead (aka genealogist.)
  • I am a mother, daughter, and friend.
  • I’m a Christian with tattoos. (Okay, just one, but more will be added.)
  • I am flawed. But I try to live every day better than the day before.

My Promise to You

This is really simple.

  1. I will be transparent, even when my day sucks. (I’ll try not to use too many grown-up words.)
  2. I will (try to) post as often as I’m physically up to it – but keep in mind posting could mean here on the blog or on social media.
  3. I will not brow beat you by saying that my way of dealing with fibromyalgia is the best or only way.
  4. I will appreciate and read every comment, note, and connection. I want to know you as much as I want you to know me. You can reach me through the contact me widget in the sidebar or by email.
  5. I will share resources, encouragement, and tips for all of us, regardless of how our pain is felt or managed.

We are in this together.
